Notes:
After touring two years with previous album ‘Sky On Fire’, the band decided to settle down for a while. They build their own rehearsal space and studio and started writing together for a new album. With producer Erik on board, they could finetune tracks even before recording and with their own rehearsal space and studio, they had time on their hands to experiment. Which resulted in layered sounds, more subtle arrangements and better constructed songs, since there were no hits requiring the mto rush releasae another album. Guest vocals on ‘So Near You’ are done by Johan ter Schegget, former vocalist of ‘Suburbs’, in which Erik played guitar for a while.
With the writing flow still going on, they released the album, which contains an oddity: the tracklist starts with number 0 instead of 1, which means slight confusion, when skipping for the wished for song.

Born in Gouda, she started singing at her secondary school under tutoring of music teacher John de Heij. During this period she lost both parents within a year. Meanwhile she performed at school music nights and during annual Vromannacht, playing English languaged, self written songs.
After graduating, she moved to Amsterdam for studying, bringing her to Sidney for a year studying abroad. During her studies, she continued writing songs, switching to Dutch lyrics in the process.
In 2013 she was selected for the 2nd auditionshow of ‘Best Singer-Songwriter of Holland’, in which she moved the jury and part of Holland, with ‘Dat Ik Je Miss’ (Because I Miss You), a song about loss and missing. Within a week this track hit the charts at No 1 and led to her being invited by Dutch Queen Beatrix, to perform that song at the funeral of her middle son Prince Friso, who died from the complications of a ski-ing accident a year before. She eventually didn’t win the contest.
Despite the madness, she finished her studies and then took time to record her first album, produced and co-written by Joost Zweegers (Novastar). The album was released on Friday june 19th 2015. The next day she played an emotional instore in hometown Gouda, attended by some friends and family, some of whom she hasn’t seen in years.

Notes:
Stichting Gemiva (GEestelijk MInder Valide, which translates as the nowadays quite politically incorrect sounding Foundation for the Mentally Less Able), was a Gouda based group, running several homes for mentally handicapped persons and got founded in 1967. When celebrating it’s 10th birthday, a group of workers wrote and played a cabaret program. The songs covered nice and lesser great subjects that people came across in daily life.
When in 1979 a traffic-themed playground was wished for, to be build in newly constructed ‘Swetterhage’ in Zoeterwoude, the songs were recorded professionally and released on record. All proceeds went to realize the playground.

The music is a mixture of post-hippy seventies tunes, some glamrock, a reggaetrack and even a New Wave infused track. Some stood the test of time, some didn’t. Lyrics covers subjects like equality, early shifts, lullaby etc. A true rarity, which I’ve never seen before since it’s release. Came in a black and white gatefold sleeve. Unknown number of pressings.

Gemiva later merged with SVG (Stichting Voorziening Gehandicapten, or Handicapped Facilities Foundation), making ito ne of the bigger players in the western part of Holland, mainly province of South Holland).

Notes:
After her duo ‘September’ featuring Phil Mills stopped, Roos continued playing, both solo and in group formation. She played monthly gigs in café ‘Marleen’ on Singer-Songwriter nights for a while, recording songs occasionally. In 2010 she decided to compile the songs closest to her heart, picking tracks from live recordings and various sessions. Dissatisfied with earlier mixes, Phil Mills remixed several ‘September’ demos for the release, which was mastered by Michiel Cornelisse and released under Roos own name. ‘Unknown Falls’ is about African rivers, which Roos frequwntly crossed while visiting South Africa, her second home. ‘Strongest Man’ is about her former Gouda basketball-trainer, who had great influence on her musical education and who recovered from serious illness recently before the album came out. After the release, the album got great reveiews and Roos expanded her gigs to Denmark and the UK.

The album got good reviews and gave the band regional attention. ‘Nimmawa’ is a duet with Ghanese Reggae-singer Mathew Tembo, for which Roos added backing vocals on his ‘Save My Soul’ album. Linde Nijland of ‘Ygdrassil’ sung backing vocals on ‘The Sea’, which was the first time ever she did backing vocals on an album outside ‘Ygdrassil’.

Genre: Indiepop

Personell:  Tim van Esch (Vocals), Gerard Trouborst (Guitars), Nils Davidse (Keyboards), Ruben Trouborst (Bass), Daniël Smit (Drums).
Additional personell: Christine Raven, Elise ’t Hart & Tessa Douwstra (Backing Vocals)
Production, recording, mix & mastering: Erik Schurman @ Studio Gouderock!, Gouderak.

Tracklisting:
1. Dance (The War Is Over).
2. (We Can’t Be) Saints.
3. Call Back Tomorrow.

4. Silence Is Sexy.
5. Kings & Queens.
6. Stay.

7. When Will I See You?
8. Blinded.
9. Be Where You Are.
10. Out Of Your League.

Notes:
After the succes of first single ‘Blinded’, the band set to work at the studio of Erik Schurman, recording one new track each week during the winter. The band got more and more exposure and gigs throughout the country increased. After some management changes, Erik became manager for the band. The sound was changing into a more retro 80s popsound, with positive mooded lyrics and more prominent keyboards. Erik’s increasing influence on the writing and production process sparked growing tensions between him and (notably) Gerard, who used to be the main contributor to the music. Nevertheless they became ‘3FM Serious Talent’ and scored small hits with ‘Blinded’, and ‘Dance (The War Is Over)’, while ‘Call Back Tomorrow’ received huge rotation as well. Third single ‘(We Can’t Be) Saints’ didn’t do as good as it’s predecessors.
Three weeks before their appearance on ‘Lowlands’ Festival, guitarist Gerard was ejected from the band due to ‘personal issues and internal tensions’. Brother Ruben was given time-out, which turned into his exit the following month. Eelke Mastebroek (ex-Rigby), replaces Gerard on guitar. Ruben hasn’t been replaced permanently, which means Kobus Groen and Rik Kraak perform bass duties on stage.
The album was self released, through a distribution deal with Dutch ‘Rough Trade’ (Not related to the UK label), in an initial print of 4500 copies.
Several outtakes are known, some of whom did certainly not deserve that fate:
- Into The Wild (re-recording for the ‘Chance’ soundtrack.
- Moods & Fears.
- Kings & Queens (Alt version).
- Storybox (Recorded during the ‘Chance’ re-recording sessions).

Notes:
After winning the ‘Grote Prijs van Nederland’ section Singer/Songwriter, Eefje didn’t use the studio time she won, as her poartner at the time had his own studio @ famous Bullet Sound Studios. Inbetween playing liveshows, she concentrated on recording her debut-CD with Marcel and a busload of others.

Presented on January 27th 2011 during a show @ Paradiso Amsterdam, she later got invited to release her CD in Belgium with a gig @ Ancienne Belgique. Something which didn’t seem to have happened (on invite) for a Dutch artist in 32 years. This album was the start of two very busy years with appearances on a.o. Lowlands, Into The Great Wide OIpen, Uitmarkt etc.

Leo Cornelissen (The Hague) used to play guitar in coverbands like ‘Fun Of It’, before discovering the synthesizer. Together they decided to make an album, which explores and showcases the possibilities of the synthesizer. The result is a very peculiair album, filled with tunes which these days can only be considered to be played as a background for humoristic radioshows and podcastst. Many consider the final traqck as the ‘best’ one of the album.

Notes:
Started in Gouda bij Reeuwijk (a neighbouring village) based Ibeling Brothers under the name 'S5 Band'. 'S5' was the militairy code for 'Psychological unfit for service'. In this period Onno Moret was playing bass at certain time. They released a demo, before renaming to 'Bad To The Bone' and relocating to Amsterdam in the second half of the 80’s. As there were more resources and contacts there, they got a record deal and played extensively in the Dutch Club circuit. This is their debut album.

Influences of Folk, Jazz, Pop and Gospel can be heard. The recordings were engineered by former ‘Light’ drummer Sjako van der Spelt. Despite not sounding sparkling in 2012 (time of writing), this album is worldwide considered the highest quality reachable for a homemade record from that period and copies have been sold for several hundreds of euros (Not kidding!!).
At the end of 2014 a Spanish (Catalan) label (Guerssen) reissued a remastered version of the album on LP and CD and put up a bandcamp account.
