September - 2005 Demos (2005).

Band: September.
Title: 2005 Demos.
Released: Unreleased, 2005.
Label: Not Released.
Genre: Singer/Songwriter/Jazz

Personell:  Roos Galjaard (Vocals, Guitar), Phil Mills (Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards, Bass).
Production, recording, mix & mastering: Phil Mills & Roos Galjaard @ Cryptic Recordings, Leeuwarden.

Tracklisting:
1. Selena.
2. Samson’s Locks.
3. Ten To Two.

4. Torpor.
5. I Am Water.

Notes:
Inbetween playing with ‘Gather Roses’, which at the time became some kind of loose collective, Roos joined Phil Mills (ex-‘Nerve’) in songwriting. Inspired and monitored by him, she focussed more on playing the guitar, further developing her sound. With Phil she formed duo ‘September’, which played several gigs and recorded some demo’s, of which this selection was given to me for broadcast purposes. Unreleased in this shape, though ‘Samson’s Locks’, ‘I Am Water’ and several other tracks later emerged in remixed or live-versions on her 2010 solo-album ‘I Am Water’.

Handsome Poets - 'Chance'-sessions (2009 - 2010).

Band: Handsome Poets.
Title: Chance-Sessions.

Tracklisting:
1. Blinded.
2. Into The Wild.
3. Storybox.

Notes:
Late 2009 drummer Jan-Jaap Bakker left the band and was replaced by Daniël Smit. Several members were studying at Utrecht Conservatory and got involved in several projects. One of them was the soundtrack for a short film, called ‘Chance’. In December 2009/January 2010 they recorded three tracks with producer Eric Schurman for the soundtrack. Dissastisfied with the result, they left the first recorded slightly rough versions in the vaults and re-recorded the first two tracks in slightly smoother, but tighter versions. They also recorded the catchy new track ‘Storybox’, which sounds like an updated ‘Police’. The re-recorded Gerard-penned ‘Blinded’ became their breakthrough single and was later included on their debut album. The other tracks stay unreleased. On this initial version of ‘Blinded’, the chorusses were sung high pitched by Tim, as he does during gigs. There’s also another demoversion of ‘Storybox’, which was made up of separate parts, put together later.

Higher Purpose - Unreleased Demo (2005).

Band: Higher Purpose.
Title: Codarts Demo.
Released: Unreleased, 2005.
Label: Unreleased.
Genre: Gospel/Indie-Pop

Personell:  Tabitha Kraaijeveld (Vocals), Tim van Esch (Vocals, Keyboards), Rex Wierenga (Keyboards, B Vocals), Gerard Trouborst (Guitar), Quintin Wierenga (Bass), Jan-Jaap Bakker (Drums).
Production, recording, mix & mastering: Unknown student (forgotten) @ Rotterdam Conservatory Studio, Rotterdam (Now ‘Codarts’).

Tracklisting:
1. Another Day.

2. In The Light.

Notes:
Summer 2004 young Gouda gospelband ‘Fluxx’ went through some changes, after the vocalist and drummer left. Gerard, Rex and his brother Quintin recruited Tim and Jan-Jaap first and started performing from september 2004 on. Missing something, they added Tabitha, whom Gerard and Tim knew from shortlived schoolband ‘Golden Values’. Initial gigs were done as ‘Fluxx’, but soon after they decided to change their name to ‘Higher Purpose’. They created their own style, by abandonning the ‘traditional’ music common in the Gospel/Praise scene and writing more contemporary, Alternative influenced music. They performed regularly in ‘Paulus Church’ in Gouda, both solo and supporting a choir and all over the country during Praise-sermons and youth-evenings.
This demo was recorded april 2005 in a 4 hour session by a student studio engineering in what is now ‘Codarts’ conservatory in Rotterdam. Dissatisfied with the not too sparkling performance and slightly poor mix, they decided not to issue the demo, which consisted of self penned ‘Another Day’ and ‘DC Talk’-cover ‘In The Light’.
