Notes:
After her duo ‘September’ featuring Phil Mills stopped, Roos continued playing, both solo and in group formation. She played monthly gigs in cafĂ© ‘Marleen’ on Singer-Songwriter nights for a while, recording songs occasionally. In 2010 she decided to compile the songs closest to her heart, picking tracks from live recordings and various sessions. Dissatisfied with earlier mixes, Phil Mills remixed several ‘September’ demos for the release, which was mastered by Michiel Cornelisse and released under Roos own name. ‘Unknown Falls’ is about African rivers, which Roos frequwntly crossed while visiting South Africa, her second home. ‘Strongest Man’ is about her former Gouda basketball-trainer, who had great influence on her musical education and who recovered from serious illness recently before the album came out. After the release, the album got great reveiews and Roos expanded her gigs to Denmark and the UK.

Notes:
Inbetween playing with ‘Gather Roses’, which at the time became some kind of loose collective, Roos joined Phil Mills (ex-‘Nerve’) in songwriting. Inspired and monitored by him, she focussed more on playing the guitar, further developing her sound. With Phil she formed duo ‘September’, which played several gigs and recorded some demo’s, of which this selection was given to me for broadcast purposes. Unreleased in this shape, though ‘Samson’s Locks’, ‘I Am Water’ and several other tracks later emerged in remixed or live-versions on her 2010 solo-album ‘I Am Water’.

Second slightly jazzy tuned CD by Groningen based ‘Gather Roses’, fronted by Gouda-originating Roos Galjaard, augmented in this lineup by Phil Mills, formerly of ‘Nerve’, who recorded and co-produced the album in his studio. The album got good reviews and gave the band regional attention. ‘Nimmawa’ is a duet with Ghanese Reggae-singer Mathew Tembo, for which Roos added backing vocals on his ‘Save My Soul’ album. Linde Nijland of ‘Ygdrassil’ sung backing vocals on ‘The Sea’, which was the first time ever she did backing vocals on an album outside ‘Ygdrassil’.

After her escapades with semi-punkbands like ‘Accidental Coitus-s’ in Gouda, Roos started to wander around the world, travelling through Europe and second home Southern Africa, while moving her base to Groningen. First to study, later for work and living. Here he formed a band with her husband at the time, Tobias Nagel, releasing her first CD. She refused to sell me one in 2000, as she had moved on at the time. Since the Cd has been sold out since, info is currently unavailable.
